Before inviting a friend

Online Versus connects players on separate devices with a shared room code. Local Versus uses one device with two sets of inputs; choosing a sidekick does not turn a solo match into online co-op. Start both players on the same game page and release.

The menu instructions below match the hosted v13.2 web build. The creator also confirms room-code play. A successful connection still depends on the online service and both players’ networks.

Host a room

  1. Open the game, focus its window and choose Online Versus from the mode menu.
  2. In the v13.2 online menu, press H for “Host a room (you get a code to share)”. On a touch device, the menu identifies LP as Host.
  3. Wait for the ROOM CODE display. Send the four-character code to your friend, keeping this game window open while they join.

Join with a room code

  1. Your friend opens the same release and selects Online Versus. Press J for “Join a friend’s room”; the touch menu identifies HP as Join.
  2. Type the four-character code and press Enter. Backspace edits the code; Escape cancels. Follow the next character-selection prompts after the connection is established.
  3. The entries labelled “Same-PC test” are for two windows on one computer. Use the ordinary Host and Join entries for a remote friend.

When the code does not connect

Check every character of the code and compare both release versions. Keep the host tab open. If the game remains on “Waiting for opponent” or reports a lost connection, return to the online menu and try a fresh room. Test a different permitted network if a school or work connection blocks game traffic.

The creator describes room-code invitations, not an automatic opponent queue. This guide does not promise public matchmaking, cross-version compatibility or console cross-play.
